Arche17 has been commissioned for the initial design feasibility study for a hotel and conference centre in Choma southern province of Zambia, Africa.

For the hotel, two types of accommodation are proposed: safari lodge style and business accommodation (more traditional western style).

Community local engagement

For the project to be successful, it is vital to engage with the local community.

This can be achieved in several ways of ways, including:

•Sourcing materials locally (in line with the ambition of the scheme to build according to eco-friendly principles).

•Employing people locally for the construction, as far as possible.

•Find local artisans for the production of furniture, doors, windows and local art and craft.

•Local engagement could extend to allow the proposed venue, conference centre and offices to be used by the community.
